The Power of Love

Dear Shining Hope Family,

Last month, we shared the touching story of sixteen-year-old Shakira. She and her family have been facing many challenges, but they have only fueled her determined spirit. It is her dream to pursue education so one day she might support her grandmother and siblings. 

And we are thrilled to share with you how GOD WORKED! 

Shakira started her first year of high school this March—thanks to the Lord and the generosity of people like you! When everything seemed like continuing her education would be impossible, that’s when God made a way.

Kalungi shares: "Shakira cried when I told her the good news on Friday the 14th that she would start school next week. She prayed for blessings to the sponsors. When Shakira conveyed the news to her grandmother later that day, her grandmother also came with teary eyes. When she thanked us, the tears broke. It was a very emotionally sweet moment that got my eyes teary as well. There’s a lot in the world you can do for someone; it just may mean the world to someone. GOD IS GOOD."

If our mission has touched your heart, there are two ways you can financially support us:

1.  Monthly Support: Consider becoming a monthly supporter to help us meet ongoing needs at Shining Hope. Our primary expense is food for the 21 children living in our home, along with daily lunches for neighborhood kids. Other expenses include care items for the children, payments for our dedicated lady helpers, and basic support for a paralyzed man named Francis. Currently, we have $380 coming in from recurring donations, but we need $2,100 to meet our needs.

2.  Support Children’s Education: You can also contribute to the education of 23 children. Their first term ends on May 2nd and resumes on the 26th.

Love brings happiness, fills emptiness, and instills hope. This truth is beautifully reflected in Shakira’s life and in the lives of each child we have the honor to support. Your love and care over the past seven years have made a profound impact. Thank you so very much!
