Dear Shining Hope Family,
We’re thrilled to announce that starting this October, we are contributing $500 monthly to our ministry expenses! Kalungi’s side business as a land broker is off the ground!
After enduring theft and a long court case over the past year, this achievement is such a milestone. We praise God for how He has worked, and we eagerly wait to see what He holds for us in the future!
We are grateful for this opportunity towards greater self-sustainability—but that doesn’t mean we are any less grateful for people like YOU! The sacrifices you continue to make for children like Diana (below), are more appreciated and impactful than you will ever know.
May you be blessed by these glimpses of your compassion in action!
Regularly being in school is a gift that God has given to our children, and does not go unnoticed. There were times when attending school each term was only a dream. Maureen and her beautiful smile represent all of us in saying a great big “THANK YOU!”
Ernest and Drake:
Our highschooler, Wilber, has a sense of humor! He recently told Kalungi that he is one of the shortest in his class, yet he helps the big boys solve problems. “That is when I become tall,” he said with a twinkle in his eyes.
Could children that work, play, learn, worship, grow, and celebrate together share unconditional love? Scovia’s gentle touch of Dalton’s arm in the middle of a Ludo game is the answer.
“Thank You, God, for our daily bread. It’s our source of energy that keeps us physically able to attend to many things.”

Nakato’s eardrum surgery on October 2nd was a success! Thank you so much for praying!
Unfortunately, her recovery has been more challenging and painful compared to her previous surgery. After spending a week in the hospital, she returned home but soon had to go back to the hospital.
A scan was done to ensure everything was all right, and she was given treatment that eased the pain. She was strongly recommended not to return home and to stay in a quiet environment to enable her to heal faster. It is no surprise that our home is a very noisy, bustling place, filled with the laughter and chatter of so many children!
After one more check-up with her specialists, she will be back home early November. The kids all miss her and are eager for her return. She is a very good cook, and all our “bottomless pits” miss her cooking! But even more importantly, they miss her kindness. She is a very warm and welcoming person, always giving her time to listen to each of them.
From all of us here at Shining Hope: thank you so very much for your support! You are an integral part of our lives and ministry, and we feel God’s love shining through you so brightly. HUGS!
Much love,
Kalungi + Rachel
