Dear Shining Hope Family,
“I can’t thank God enough for His presence in the works and needs of our ministry,” Kalungi wrote in early March. “Recently we had a need for tuition for our new high schoolers, and at the same time, Nakato needed medical attention. But I’m here to give a testimony about our God: He is the God of abundance.”
• The tuition for our high schoolers was 100% funded.
• The Lord continues to supply the medical care Nakato needs.
• Our fundraiser for our monthly needs was 100% funded (something that rarely happens!) by kind people like YOU!
• And if this wasn’t enough, the Lord provided four brand new tires for our vehicle!
WHAT ANSWERS TO PRAYER! Praise the Lord for Who He is!
Our Maureen:
Update on our high schoolers! Scovia, Edrine, and Jonathan are LOVING school. They feel like grownups! Traveling the seven miles to school on foot would be too tiring for them, and paying for a taxi would be too expensive. We are so blessed they can catch a ride to school with boda boda (motorcycle) drivers whom Kalungi knows well. They are enjoying the ride immensely! High school is a bit more intense than primary school. Classes meet Monday through Saturday 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, but they are adjusting well.
“Thank you to everyone who has been—and is—part of their educational journey. Your kindness never goes unnoticed by us, and our Father.”
“Say ‘cheese!’” Jonathan, Scovia, and Edrine pose in their smart new uniforms:
Nakato is still suffering from her ear condition. Her pain became excruciating the night of March 2nd. Through the outpouring support of our Shining Hope family, the Lord is mercifully providing her with the means to see a specialist in Kampala. Her condition was identified as kiwaanga, a seemingly rare and serious condition. She began treatment with medications and daily visits to the hospital for exams. Surgery was ruled out on the 15th; however, she continues to stay in Kampala as she receives daily care. She is making progress and her pain is less. Praise the Lord for the healing He has wrought in her so far!
Nakato’s absence from our home leaves a very big gap. It’s been difficult for our other two ladies to take over the many different tasks this hardworking lady does every day. We are so grateful for Nakato’s love and sacrifice. She can’t wait to come back home—and we can’t wait either!
Below, we send these photos to show our immense appreciation for helping us meet our children’s needs this month!
Delicious! Our Cedric enjoys a juicy slice of watermelon:
Wonder why Kalungi looks like this? He just finished playing a vigorous—and fun—game of soccer with the boys!
On World Down Syndrome Day, we celebrated this special guy! In the past, Alvin faced bullying because of his condition, but he now feels safe, secure, and loved. It’s clear to see that Kalungi has completely stolen his heart!
In closing, we would love for you to join us in these praise and prayer requests. Thank you so much for your prayers!
1. PRAISE the Lord for His wondrous provision—for our entire monthly needs, Nakato’s medical care, and new tires for our vehicle! So many lives touched . . . and yet to be touched because of His goodness working through our support family.
2. PRAY for God’s healing touch in Nakato’s life, and grace to endure this trial.
3. PRAY for God’s wisdom and enabling as we finish setting up the sponsorship program for our children. We’re on the home stretch! Please also pray that the Lord would provide wonderful, Godly sponsors to pour into the life of each of our children.
Our God is the God of abundance. He gives grace that is sufficient. He saves to the uttermost. He gives life more abundantly. He supplies all our needs. He gives joy that is full. He has love that overflows. In Him, we have all we need.
May you know that: “God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8 Thank you sincerely for freely giving of the resources God has blessed you with! They are being used for His glory and will be multiplied many times over by our generous Father in Heaven.
Worshiping the God of abundance,
Kalungi + Rachel
PS: Perhaps you would be encouraged in doing a word study on the abundance of God! Such words as “abundant,” “full,” and “sufficient” can be looked up in a Bible concordance. Nothing bolsters our faith more than learning about the character of our great God!
