Dear Shining Hope Family,
“Prayer leads every moment in our ministry. For the good, we thank God through prayer; and for the challenging moments, we seek for His guidance.”
Gloria:
There has been SO MUCH GOOD this month to thank God for!
1. For starters . . . YOU!!! We feel so blessed that you are a member of our Shining Hope family, and that we have the privilege of serving the Lord and others with you.
2. All November long, the Lord supplied meals for our 21 children and the neighbor kids through you!
Scovia:
Kalungi shares, “Whenever we ask God to give us our daily bread, He provides it in the perfect time. Thank you to everyone committed to supporting our ministry. It means a lot to every child who receives a meal here at Shining Hope for the Vulnerable. These children pray for God to continue blessing you.” (Awww, how precious!)
We are so excited and grateful for the ability to feed these kids. It is an absolute blessing in their lives, and we cherish every mealtime. I (Rachel) have been guilty of taking for granted God’s daily provision of food in my own life. Being part of this ministry has really opened my eyes to how much of a mercy this gift from the Father is.
Cute as can be!
3. Filling hungry tummies at lunchtime provides an extra special opportunity for ministering to the neighborhood children!
“On a daily basis, before we have a meal with the kids, we pray and tell the young ones about God and about Jesus. And every day, they come back happy and eager to learn more.”
Just look at this little earnest face bowed in prayer!
4. Scovia, Edrine, and Jonathan, our high school hopefuls, took the nation-wide entrance exam on November 7th and 8th! It takes two months to receive their results. They have high hopes that they will pass—and so do we!
5. On November 25th, school ended. All our primary students passed to the next grade, with Cedric being top of his class . . . again!
To everyone who helped make their time in school this past year possible: THANK YOU! Lots of love from all the kids!
They are now taking their longest holiday of the year, with the next term starting Monday, February 6th. SO GOOD to have these beloved kids home for this long!
While we have much to be grateful for, we still have “challenging moments” as Kalungi referenced in the beginning of this letter. God’s promise that He will never forsake us strengthens our hearts.
Funding is still tight. In addition to our regular monthly contributions, we raised less than a quarter of our fundraiser’s goal (SHFV.org/food-fund) for food this month. But even then, God proved His goodness and faithfulness. Through the side businesses the Lord has blessed Kalungi with, our immediate needs were met once again! Isn’t He wonderful?!
Please join us in prayer asking the Lord to bring more monthly donors to our ministry. A bigger army of Christ’s followers will help cover rising costs, enable our ministry to expand and serve more people, and meet other needs (such as plastering our home and wall, building a kitchen structure, and purchasing bunk beds and new mattresses and blankets for our kids). Oh, how we appreciate your intercession!
Ernest:
Psalm 100:6 reads: “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.” When we enter into the Lord’s presence, one of the things we praise and thank Him for is you and how He is using you in the lives of these dear children! You are such a gift to us. Wishing you and your family a joyous Christmas season celebrating our Lord and Savior’s birth!
With love and two very grateful hearts,
Kalungi + Rachel
