Dear Shining Hope Family,
On November 30th, our children finished their final term of school! We have witnessed God’s presence again and again in their education this year:
• They didn’t have a lot of sickness which would hinder them from going to school.
• School fees were paid on time each term.
• The children always had a meal before school, and meals after school were readily available.
• God kept them safe to and from school.
We are so grateful to God—and you—for these tremendous blessings!
We cannot thank you enough for providing the neighbor kids with filling, nutritious lunches each day. For some time now, we’ve noticed a difference in their physical appearance. They look so good and healthy! PRAISE THE LORD!
Recently we gathered them around and asked them a few questions:
“Who is Jesus?”
“Jesus died for our sins.”
“Jesus is good.”
“Jesus is God’s Son.”
“What is your favorite time of day?”
“Mealtimes!” the majority chorused.
“Morning time,” a few said. “Because it’s wake-up time, which means we’re alive and get to see another day.”
“What is your favorite part about being at our home?”
“We feel at home, and we feel like we belong together. You share your food equally with us.”
“Who is your hero?”
“JESUS!”
“What do you want to do when you grow up?”
“I want to be a teacher!”
“A doctor!”
“A lawyer!”
“I want to be a pilot!”
In closing, Kalungi shares a touching story: “In our journey as a ministry, many people have rendered support, and we can’t forget about it. Who knows if their support wasn’t offered, we might not have existed up to now.
“We recently went to visit Jajja, in whose house we lived before outgrowing it and moving to our current home. She supported us as far as she could; we don’t take this for granted. Every time we meet, we talk about those early memories and struggles, and we always hold a prayer before leaving her premises.
Kalungi, Nakato, and Jajja:
“She will forever be part of us because our story begins with her in it. God has brought us from far. God has blessed us. God is continuing to bless us.”
Just like Jajja, each member of our Shining Hope family (including you!) has a history that we cherish. A story of when we met . . . fellowship we shared . . . times we praised the Lord together . . . acts of unforgettable generosity.
You will forever be part of us—and our story. Thank you, truly, for your unfailing love and support. We treasure you!
Wishing you and your loved ones a blessed Christmas full of the Savior’s joy!
With love and hugs,
Kalungi + Rachel
