One Person with God

Dear Shining Hope Family,

“There is power in prayer.”

We’ve all heard this phrase one time or another. And it does hold some truth. However, BibleRef, the online Bible commentary, expresses it best:

“The power behind prayer comes from God, not the one who prays.”

This October, we want to rejoice with you over the Lord’s answers to prayer—and share a few ways how you can pray.

• We started the month behind financially. BUT GOD—through kind people like you—not only met 100% of October’s needs, but November’s also!

• Scovia is growing into a beautiful, mature young lady. She is now serving other kids at Shining Hope through her love of cooking. God graciously took her from being homeless after she ran away from her abusive relatives—and brought her to where she is today. Your support and prayers make all the difference!

Scovia made this meal!

• Can you believe that this year’s school term is already coming to a close? Our children’s last day is on November 30th!

Wilber and Mark are finishing seventh grade. On the 7th and 8th of November, they will complete their Primary Leaving Examination (PLE). If they pass, they will join our highschoolers Scovia, Edrine, and Jonathan!

Prayers for Wilber and Mark—and all our students as they end the term—are very appreciated!

• Kalungi shares a prayer request for sweet Francis:

“Our friend, Francis, needs your prayers as he’s feeling lonely, and he has bed sores again. He told me that I’m the only person who makes him feel useful and loved.

“It’s been some time since I visited him. Lord willing, I would like to make it to him soon to give him company. I would also like to carry some items along to him.

“He is such a joyful person even though he’s paralyzed, so it really hurts me when he’s sad.”

• On October 28th, Nakato received an unexpected call from her specialist: she needed to have surgery on her eardrums right away. For the past eight months, she has been treating this rare, painful condition successfully. However, this surgery would prevent the issue from reoccurring.

Praise the Lord, her surgery was a success, and she is recovering well! Thank you so much for all your prayers, and for your sacrifice that has greatly blessed her with receiving this medical care!

We have seen God answer many prayers through you. And we see YOU and all the sacrifices you make to support Shining Hope! Please accept our sincerest gratitude.

Is there a person or situation you’ve been praying over? We want to leave you with this thought from Fred, a member of the Shining Hope family:

“You are not just one person. You are one person with God. Keep praying.”

To the One Who has the power to answer prayers,

Kalungi + Rachel
