“For the love you’ve shared”

Dear Shining Hope Family,

Does Jesus care when my heart is pained

Too deeply for mirth and song

As the burdens press and the cares distress

This hymn beautifully expresses the current season Kalungi is going through.

The court case, in which he is one of the plaintiffs, continues to drag on and weigh heavily on his shoulders. In the summer of 2023, the defendant, Musinguzi, stole money from Kalungi’s side business as a land broker, as well as from a number of other individuals.

Frustratingly, until the bans are lifted, Kalungi’s business remains at a standstill—as do our desires to grow Shining Hope. Even though this is a seemingly cut-and-dry case, the corruption in the courts could make this case stretch out between one and two years. Proceedings have been going on since the late fall of last year.

One day this month, with all this on his mind, Kalungi was especially touched by your faithfulness through every season. Overwhelmed by your generosity, he sat down to record this heartwarming video for you. (Don’t miss the happy chatter of little ones in the background as activities are in full swing!)

“Today, I would like to make it brief, but mainly, I’m here to thank you all for the support you have given to us all this time. You’ve supported us in need. There are sudden happenings that have come and needed support, and you have been there for us. We are really, really thankful. 

“Thank you for providing our monthly needs. We can’t appreciate minus talking about that because there’s been consistency in providing for these needs. Thank you for the school fees. Thank you for everything you’ve supported us with. Thank you for the emotional support. We’ve seen problems that have come, and you’ve made us feel like, ‘No, you shouldn’t worry about anything. Everything will be sorted.’
