For all the Laborers

Dear Shining Hope Family,

“For we are labourers together with God.” 1 Corinthians 3:9

What a privilege to labor with the Lord in the transformative work He is doing in this world! This month, we are excited to highlight a few of His laborers.

“Pastor Peter is a longtime friend of mine,” Kalungi shares. “Ever since I told him about our ministry, he was interested, and offered to be available whenever we need him. At the beginning of every school term, I invite him to come and lead an opening prayer for the term. This serves as an example to our children that before doing anything, God must come first.”

Now for some ADORABLE back-to-school pictures!

Grace and Maureen are beaming with joy in their new school uniforms:

Last term, heavy rains made the journey to school challenging. Our high schooler Scovia (affectionately known as Prossy) is especially thankful to God that it’s not raining now.

Edrine’s poses are the best!

Four of our five high schoolers: Scovia, Mark, Edrine, and Jonathan (missing Wilber)

Jovan holds his new books and backpack:

Rachel, Nakato, and Nakiranda are the pillars of Shining Hope. Each day, they prepare hearty meals not only for our 21 children, but also for neighboring children. They clean and teach and do a hundred other things to care for them, all while radiating love. We are so grateful for the vital role they play in these children’s lives!

Rachel and Nakato (Nakiranda can be seen in the video later in the update):

A few of their adorable helpers: Grace, Caroline, and Nagayi

There is someone else we want to especially acknowledge, someone whom God is using in profound ways in our small Ugandan ministry. That someone is YOU! Shining Hope would not exist if it weren’t for caring people like you. Your priceless investment of prayers and finances bless little ones, like the one pictured below, with nourishment and the love of Jesus.

We are so thankful for laborers like you!

Much love,

Kalungi + Rachel

PS: Before you go . . . don’t miss seeing one of the busiest moments around our home—meal prep time! This video was beautifully described by a member of the Shining Hope family this way: “So much hard work and love.”
